Director (Refineries) Champions Collaboration and Innovation at PTA Symposium on Operational Excellence and Best Practices
Mr. Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), Leads Symposium on PTA Plant Operations and Best Practices Mr. Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), recently presided over a two-day symposium on Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Best Practices at the Scope Convention Centre, New Delhi. In his keynote address, Mr. Kumar underscored the significance of collaboration and innovation, stating, “I firmly believe in breaking silos and building bridges. By sharing our challenges and collaboratively charting a path forward, we can create a win-win scenario for everyone involved.” He highlighted global PTA market trends, noting, “Polyester holds the largest market share in the PTA segment, driven by the increasing demand for polyester-based solutions like PET resins, polyester fibers, and packaging films. The Asia-Pacific region dominates this market, accounting for more than 45% of the global share.” Mr. Kumar also emphasized India's status as a net importer of PTA, with 1.58 MMTPA imported in FY22-23. He outlined IndianOil’s strategic response, highlighting the upcoming 1.2 MMTPA PTA plant at Paradip, scheduled for commissioning in 2025.
